Wasim Akram criticized first T20 semi-final pitch

Wasim Akram has said that he was surprised at the condition of the pitch for the 1st semi-final of the ICC World T20 at the R. Premadasa Ground after Pakistan’s 16-run loss to Sri Lanka on Thursday.

The ex- Pakistan skipper, who’s in Sri Lanka as a Tv analyst covering the competition, mentioned that the pitch was “not in the nature of the sport”.
“I should say that this pitch definitely wasn’t in the style of the game,” he told Geo News. “It was an impossible wicket to bat on, and I’m shocked they’d such a surface for such an important game.”

Wasim Akram has also shown his discomfort that the men’s semi-final was played on the same pitch the women’s semi-final was played on earlier in the day. “When Pakistan batted, 60 overs had been bowled on it. This isn’t suitable for such a crucial game,” Wasim Akram said, and added that the “poor pitch robbed the viewers of entertainment.”

Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez was unhappy that his team couldn’t chase down Sri Lanka’s total of 139 on a pitch he says was “stopping a bit and turning”, but accepted that his team was struggling to string together partnerships.
