Waqar Younis misses out on Australia bowling coach job

Pakistan’ s former fast bowler Waqar Younis has said that discussions with Cricket Australia about a coaching job haven’t been successful. Cricket Australia was in talks with Waqar to replace bowling coach Craig McDermott who resigns after Australia’s tour of West Indies in May.

However, Waqar disclosed that the discussions had failed and he wasn’t in contention for the job anymore. Waqar, who resigned as Pakistan’s coach last year citing private reasons, is based in Sydney and was wanting to work with the Australian team.

Waqar Younis, who took 373 Test wickets in a 14-year career, said what he was offering was completely different from what Cricket Australia was looking for.Waqar will be coaching a team in the Sri Lanka Premier League followed by the T20 World Cup where he will be associated with commentary.
