The Pakistan fast bowler, ‘s departure for Australia to undergo surgery on his injured leg has been postponed because of visa issues. The delay in his departure for Australia has dimmed the chances of Gul recovering in time for the tour to Zimbabwe in July.
Sources near to the bowler who’s been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy because of his knee injury, said the visa issues had arisen because his passport had been sent to the UK High Commission with the rest of the cricketers for the ICC Champions Trophy.
“Umar Gul was ruled out of Champions Trophy but his passport came back after a delay and resulted in loss of time to apply for the Australian visa,” one source said.
Umar Gul, who suffered the knee problem during the tour of South Africa which forced him to skip a Test and 3 ODI matches, has been advised to have surgery in Melbourne under the supervision of an expert.
