Shoaib Akhtar rams car in front of PM Secretariat, escapes unhurt

Pakistan Ex- fast bowler Shoaib Akktar has escaped a near fatal car mishap in Islamabad on Saturday evening.  As per sources, Ex- cricketer’s car crashed into a roadside cement block close to Pm Secretariat here. The incident seems to be a result of over-speeding.

Shoaib Akhtar is among the quickest bowlers in international cricket. He made his Test debut in Nov 1997 and played his initial ODI 4 months later. He has been involved in many controversies during his career. Akhtar was sent home during the Test series in Australia in 2005 for claimed bad frame of mind. A yr later, he was involved in a drug scandal after testing positive to a suspended substance. However, the ban imposed on him was removed on court appeal.

In Sept . 2007, Akhtar was suspended for an indefinite period for his fight with Mohammad Asif. On 1 April 2008, Shoaib Akhtar was suspended for 5yrs for openly criticizing the PCB. In October 2008, the Court suspended the 5 year ban and Shoaib Akhtar was chosen in the 15 man team for the T20 Quadrangular Contest in Canada.
