Shahrukh Khan pleads guilty in smoking case during live match

Shahrukh Khan on yesterday pleaded guilty through his lawyer in a Jaipur court on the charge of smoking in public during an IPL match in April. The Rajasthan Police had served summons on the actor on Tuesday for smoking in open public at the Sawai Man Singh Ground in April and had his hearing scheduled for Saturday.

The actor wasn’t present at the hearing and was represented by his legal representative who said SRK is ready to pay the fine and settle the case. Shahrukh Khan was seen smoking on camera during a match between the KKR, the IPL team he owns, and the Rajasthan Royals on April 8. A case was registered in additional chief judicial magistrate’s court on April 9 by a Jaipur resident, Anand Singh Rathore, who claimed that despite a ban on cigarette smoking in public, the actor puffed away in front of a large number of cricket fans.

The court has set the next hearing date on June 21. Smoking in public areas is banned across the country.
