Shahid Afridi joins 500-run club in Twenty20

Shahid Afridi became the fourth Pakistani and 13th batsman overall to score 500 or more runs in Twenty20 cricket.The Pakistani captain achieved this achievement during his 33-run knock against Australia at Beausejour Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia on Sunday (May 2). It was 27th innings of 29th match in this short version of the game.

Shahid Afridi who made his Twenty20 debut against England at Bristol on August 28, took three years and 248 days to reach this milestone.Shoaib Malik (603 runs in 30 matches), Misbah-ul-Haq (558 runs in 25 matches) and Kamran Akmal (524 runs in 30 matches) were the three Pakistani batsman who scored over 500 runs in Twenty-20 cricket before Shahid Afridi.

Michael Clarke became the first Australian and 9th player overall to play 25 or more matches in Twenty-20 cricket while Misbah-ul-Haq became the fifth Pakistan to play 25 or more matches. Shoaib Malik (30 matches), Kamran Akmal (29 matches), Shahid Afridi (29 matches) and Umar Gul (26 matches) were the other Pakistani players to play 25 or more matches before Misbah-ul-Haq.
