Samsung overtakes Apple in worldwide mobile internet usage


Samsung has taken charge as the number 1 brand of mobile phone used to connect to the internet for the 1st occasion, as per StatCounter’s Internet Wars Report. In July 2012, Nokia held the worldwide market lead, with 28.05 % of web usage, then Apple, with 25.43 %, and Samsung, at 19.46 %.

But in June 2013, Nokia’s share slipped to 21.96 % and Apple’s slipped to 25.09 %. This has left Samsung, whose share of the market has only been improving the entire year, to take the top spot, with 25.47 %. BlackBerry, however, has seen a gentle decrease in its market share, losing from 5 % to just 3.62 %.

Looking at just the United states, however, Apple is still the leader, with 54.85 % versus Samsung’s 12.65 %. In Britain, Apple is again leading, with 47.97 %, as opposed to Samsung in 2nd spot, with 20.45 %.
