Samsung drops attempt to ban Apple sales in European countries

Samsung on yesterday said it’d drop legal cases aimed at freezing the sale of Apple products in Europe just a day after scoring a victory in a fight in America with the maker of iPhones.

Samsung and Apple, the world’s leading 2 smartphone companies, have been locked in patent conflicts in at least 10 countries over the last 1 . 5 years since Apple sued Samsung, claiming Samsung copied its best-selling iPhone and iPad. On yesterday, Samsung said it was dropping an attempt to stop the sale of a few Apple products in Germany, Britain, France, Italy and the Holland, though it failed to say it’d stop its court fight for compensation.

In August, Apple was granted $1.05 billion in damages after a U.S. court identified Samsung had copied vital functions of the iPhone and iPad. The Samsung products run on the Android OS, designed by Google.
