Ex- Australia skipper Ricky Ponting has admitted he’d be available for an unlikely Ashes call-up. The 38-year-old retired from Test cricket at the end of last year after an outstanding career, captaining his team to 48 Test victories, and making 13,378 Test runs in 168 games.
Ricky Ponting has arrived in England this week to play county cricket for Surrey, and he admitted that if asked it would be hard for him to turn down a call from his country.Ponting said he’d always be available, should Australian skipper Michael Clarke require his services.
“Mate, they will have reserve batsmen around should anything like that happen so I don’t think they will be needing me. You wouldn’t say no, would you, if that call came and I would never say never, but you have to say a call-up like that now is extremely unlikely,” Ponting said.
