Election Results 2013: PML-N emerges as leading party, PTI runner up

pti, pml-nPML-N in May 11 elections surprised most political experts by clinching a thumping win, mostly in the Punjab, and is ready to create its government in the Centre. PTI also impressed with a remarkable performance coming close to becoming the second biggest party in Pakistan.

While all the results were still to come in, the PTI seemed locked in a neck-to-neck fight with the PPP for 2nd position in the next parliament. Mian Nawaz Sharif, in his victory address, assured a clean and efficient government after his brother Mian Shahbaz Sharif announced that his brother would become the country’s prime minister for the 3rd time.

Mian Shahbaz Sharif and PTI central leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi won from NA-129 and NA-48 respectively. Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, PTI stalwart is leading in 4 national assembly constituencies.  The unconfirmed results announced PML-N as main political party winning the elections as the party led by Mian Nawaz Sharif virtually swept away the polls in central and upper parts of Punjab while it also performed nicely in parts of Southern Punjab.

The PTI almost removed its rivals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the party which brought in as a new political power in the country turned the tables on its opponents and won most of national assembly seats in the province of KPK.
