Actress Rani Mukherji, who was last seen in Bombay Talkies, is now gearing up for her next movie titled Mardaani, directed by her husband Aditya Chopra.
The actress will be seen playing an action packed character of a cop. However, we now hear that she will reprise the role inspired by a real life lady police officer who has solved several child trafficking cases in India.
ATS chief Himanshu Roy talks about Rani’s role; “Rani approached us when she was preparing for her role. She wanted to play it realistically and we have just helped her do that. She wanted to know in detail about the challenges faced by cops and the lifestyle we lead. So we put her in touch with two lady officers from the crime branch. She then spent some time with them to get a better idea about their lives.”
He also revealed that Rani went on to meet the same lady police officer.
“I cannot reveal her name but yes, she was an officer at the crime branch,” Roy said.
Also, the production house has maintained a lot of secrecy around the project and the crew have signed a non- disclosure clause with the production company. This means that they are not at liberty to share any information about the film with the media at this stage. Mardaani revolves around a teenage girl who is kidnapped and smuggled out the city by child traffickers and how Rani’s character embarks on a hunt for the girl.
