Ponting admits being afraid of Wasim Akram

Australian ex- captain Ricky Ponting has accepted that he was always afraid of a showdown on the pitch with the seasoned left arm fast bowler Wasim Akram.

Ponting, who presently retired from Test cricket, said in an interview that Wasim Akram and Curtly Ambrose of West Indies were two of the dangerous fast bowlers he’d to face during his batting career.

While lauding the ex- Pakistani skipper and the legendary left arm fast bowler, Ponting said that Wasim Akram had matchless bowling abilities and packed unexpected for the batsman because of his different bowling style.

‘It wasn’t simple to score runs while Wasim was playing’, the newly retired Foreign batsman added.
