PML-N and ANP likely to oppose dual nationality bill

ANP and PML-N on Thursday shown concern over the amendment bill for the dual nationality law. The ANP declared that the law should only be applicable for presidents, prime ministers, the military command and judges.

The PML-N also criticized the contempt of court amendment bill and mentioned that the bill is equivalent to reducing the judiciary’s power. Sources revealed that the party will also oppose the bill. Haji Adeel, a central leader of the govt allied ANP, presented the party’s posture when he was approached by President Asif Ali Zardari.

Adeel said, “If such laws aren’t imposed, then people like Mansoor Ijaz can also become the president of Pakistan one day.” Earlier on Wednesday, the federal cabinet had authorized amendment bills pertaining to dual nationality and contempt of court regulations.

It’s ordered in the cabinet session that the dual nationality amendment bill be brought before the National Assembly for debate and permission.
