PCB unlikely to trial pink balls in D/N matches against Australia

The use of white balls is likely to be continued for the upcoming matches between Pakistan and Australia in August-September 2012.

 The cricket committees of the ICC and the MCC have been in favour of utilizing pink balls for D/N games and the PCB has already released the schedule of the matches that will have late-evening start to avoid UAE avoid high temperature.

“It’s a PCB series, you need to ask them”, Peter Young, the CA GM said from Melbourne.

“Of course, we’ll continue with the white balls. The playing issues are being worked out”, Intikhab Alam, the PCB official said to this scribe.

The ODIs are scheduled to start on 6pm local time, and end at 1.45am the following morning. The T20s that follow are set to start at 8pm and end at 11.

“The series in question is a Pakistan series to which they’ve invited us. You should direct queries on matters such as potential public interest to them”, Young further added.

“Cricket Australia has liaised with the cricketers and with their rep association as part of the preparing for this series”.

“We will also be going to the UAE with the players’ association to do the normal pre-tour review that we undertake before every Aussie tour to any place in the world. That travel will be in the next fortnight”, he further explained.

“Now that the PCB has finalized schedules, locations and playing times, Cricket Australia will be moving to finalize measures for our UAE match against Afghanistan which we’ll play instantly before the Pakistan matches ”, Young signed off.
