PCB and ICC left fuming after Banned players appear on Television

The ICC and PCB have been left fuming after banned players, Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir made Tv appearances on special ICC World T20 shows. Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir appeared as experts on the `ARY news` and `Express news` channels during the India and Pakistan warm up game, drawing a mixed response from the cricket community.

The PCB turned down to comment on the matter, pointing out the 2 crickters were under a ICC ban and the board also couldn’t interfere in working of private media outlets. But an ICC spokesperson told a top daily that the appearance of the 2 banned cricketers was unsatisfactory.

“We can`t interfere or inform any media firm what to do. But definitely they need to look at these points themselves as these cricketers are definitely not heroines for the young generation,” the spokesperson said. He said media channels have to figure out themselves whether it was morally right to have cricketers banned for corruption working for them as analysts.

Even a year ago Salman Butt seemed on a channel during the World Cup leading to a huge dispute as at that time the ICC anti-corruption tribunal was in the process of hearing the spot fixing allegations against them.
