Overconfidence caused debacle in South Africa: Abdul Razzaq

Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq blames Pakistan’s Test debacle in South Africa on the “overconfidence” of the cricketers, stating that the team’s batsmen were simply not ready for the dangerous bowling attack of the Proteas.

“I think overconfidence was the main reason for the defeats,” Abdul Razzaq said on ‘Geo Super’ channel.

Abdul Razzaq, who was neglected for the South Africa series despite his huge experience, said Pakistan — after performing well in Tests in the last 2 yrs in the UAE, Sri Lanka and India– weren’t ready for the conditions in South Africa.

“I thought they were a little bit overconfident about this series after doing nicely in the last 2 years against most sides. Sadly they weren’t prepared for an informed South African bowling attack,” he added.

The veteran all-rounder said it was Pakistan’s disaster that none of their best cricketers were able to perform in the Test series.
