India batsman Virat Kohli is in doubt for 2nd ODI against Pakistan in Kolkata, on Jan. 3, after he suffered an injury to his right leg during the 1st ODI on yesterday.
Virat Kohli, bowling the 41st over in Chennai, slipped and fell in his delivery stride and injured his right knee. He was instantly off the ground and didn’t return as Pakistan won by 6 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
The BCCI secretary, Sanjay Jagdale, in a press release mentioned: “Virat Kohli, who sustained an ankle injury while bowling in the 1st ODI against Pakistan in Chennai early today, underwent an MRI scan after the match. All his main ligaments are fine. There’s minor injury fluid in his knee. He’ll recover after treatment. His state will be examined, and a decision on whether he’ll play the 2nd ODI at Kolkata on 3 January 2013, will be taken over the next few days.”
If Kohli doesn’t recover in time, Ajinkya Rahane, the reserve batsman, might take his place in the playing XI.
