Babar Awan lashes out at Punjab government

Federal Law Minister Babar Awan says corruption is rising in the Punjab while the educational institutions are on the sale in the province. While addressing the PPP workers here on Sunday, Babar suggested the PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif to announce the date for holding of local bodies elections instead of privatizing the educational institutions. “When Nawaz Sharif said there was corruption in the country he is right because the largest province has been mismanaged none other than by his younger brother, Shahbaz Sharif,” he said. He was also critical of Sharif brothers’ Raiwand palace.

Federal Law Minister said the government’s reconciliation plan is aimed at promoting harmony among democratic forces and strengthening democracy in the state. “It would be misunderstanding if this policy is termed as weakness on the part of the PPP govt,” he said. Babar Awan said Pakistan People’s Party represents the oppressed segment of the country and struggle for their full empowerment will continue till the achievement of this goal. He asked the Punjab govt to make efforts to reduce corruption from the province. He said there is also require to increase the governance in the Punjab province.

He criticized Punjab govt for closing seven hundred petrol pumps in the province as it would result in the joblessness of twenty thousand people. He said that PML (N) leader Mian Nawaz Sharif should help Petroleum Dealers Association on the issue. The Law Minister pointed out that no one enjoyed majority in Punjab.
