Apple will reportedly be introducing a low cost iPhone which will revert back to the plastic chassis found on the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS. The rumor also reveals that the parts will be American made instead of being created in China.
DigiTimes reports that sources within the upstream supply chain have affirmed that Apple is in the process of sourcing the plastic components required for a low cost iPhone such as a chassis. Other speculation has suggested that the budget iPhone would also feature a layout which merges both the plastic body with a metal layout making a hybrid between the two. With the iPhone 6 apparently featuring a variety of fresh colors and most likely a new larger screen Apple could be looking to take on Android across all the selling prices.
While these are just speculation it’d definitely fit in with reports that Apple will be introducing an iPad Mini with Retina display making a range of smartphones and tablets that would cover both the low cost and premium markets.
