Apple TV owners having trouble relating to their network may be eligible for an alternative device. In an internal Cupertino memo obtained by 9to5 Mac, Apple stated that many third-gen units are having Wi-Fi problems, and will be changed.
The screenshot given by 9to5Mac also says that Apple will change infected Apple TV devices for up to 2 yrs from the original purchase date, totally free. As per the document, affected models will have a serial number ending in DRHN, and the 3rd and 4th characters of the serial number must contain one of these simple pairs: H9, HC, HD, HF, HG, HH, HJ, HK, HL, HM, HN, HP, HQ, HR, HT, HV, HW, HX, J1, J2, J3, J4, J5, J6, J7, J8, J9.
Apple hasn’t yet replied to Macworld’s request for an opinion.
