The future of Shahid Afridi and Umar Gull looks to be unsure similar to Younis Khan, who’s been dropped from the initial list of probable players for the ICC Champions Trophy.
With experienced Younis Khan axed from the list of 30 probable cricketers named on Sunday for the Champions Trophy, team management sources stated the worst shows of Afridi and Gul has put a question mark on their international cricket future prospects.
Saying that the selectors, had the full support of the management dropping Younis Khan from the initial list for the Champions Trophy. Players like Gul and Afridi are now considered as past their prime and aren’t automatic selections. They further stated that the national selection board had a long gathering with the team management before finalizing the names on the initial list but found no compassion from the administration for the struggling trio.
As per the sources, skipper Misbah-ul-Haq also supported the decision of the team administration as he wasn’t satisfied with Younis Khan’ performance in ODI matches, in which he’d scored just 200 runs at a weak average of 18.18 last season.
