The PCB is going to make a change in the captaincy of the national squad as 3 separate sides are likely to be announced on today for the forthcoming tour of Sri Lanka. “We haven’t taken any ultimate judgment to replace skipper Misbah-ul-Haq. Before taking any judgment, I will meet senior authorities to exchange views on the matter,” PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf told media.
When asked whether 2 captains for different forms would yet again promote groupings in the squad as it happened when Salman Butt was leading Test team and Shahid Afridi was the skipper of limited-overs game, Zaka mentioned that ultimate decision would be taken after thorough conversation and in the best interest of the side. As per sources, Mohammad Hafeez is being tipped as skipper for the T20 squad despite his lower batting average as compared to Misbah.
On the other hand, the national selection board has finalized discussion with skipper and coach over selection of three separate squads. The selectors will have one more session of debate on Wednesday before handing over the final list to the PCB chairman for his permission and announcement.
