Taiwan’s Pegatron Corporation, a major player in the assembly Apple iPhones and iPads, are apparently gearing up to make the new iPhone 6. The Commercial Times has word that the maker has opened up a fresh factory space on the outskirts of Shanghai in Kunshan. Combined with the new facility, Pegatron is also stated to be in the midst of a hiring spree to fill the upcoming iPhone 6 orders.
The paper says this burst of activity is to prepare for iPhone 6 production, which should start in the 2nd quarter, as per sources the newspaper would not identify. The report also failed to specify an exact schedule for the launch of Apple’s new main smartphone. In addition to Pegatron, Hon Hai Precision Industry (otherwise known as Foxconn) will be yet another main iPhone maker, the Commercial Times stated.
This is not the very first occasion heard early reports about iPhone 6 manufacturing. Earlier, Taiwanese papers claimed that the chip suppliers behind the iPhone 6’s A8 mobile processor were also planning to ramp up manufacturing for the 2nd quarter.
