Owners of iPhones like their mobiles more than Android users like theirs. That’s the gist of some new research from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners which just completed analyzing 4 quarters worth of Smartphone platform loyalty studies gathered between July 2012 and June 2013.
As per CIRP’s data, 81 % of current iPhone owners purchased another iPhone during the 12 month period surveyed. Meanwhile, 68 % of current Android Smartphone owners bought another Android device. Not a huge gulf between the 2 platforms – just a 13 % difference, but considerable when considered with a 2nd metric CIRP analyzed – the rate at which iPhone owners switched to Android, and the other.
During the period CIRP surveyed, almost 3 times as many Android device owners switched to iPhone as iPhone owners switched to Android. Between July 2012 and June 2013, iPhone poached 20 % of its owners from Android, while Android has taken just 7 % of its users from iPhone.
