Since Apple’s release of the initial iPad in the year 2010, owners of the very well-known tablet have down loaded an unbelievable 3 billion applications, as per ABI Research. The firm reports that iPad users have down loaded about 3 billion applications so far, while Android is at just 440 million. The iPad is also in front of the iPhone, which required about 2 yrs to hit this landmark.
ABI says that there were about 120,000 applications available for the iPad as of Q3 2011 and the iPad equipment is much better suitable for run apps. “In terms of hardware, the iPad device still provides a lot more as opposed to present crop of tablets in the market,” says Dan Shey, practice director, mobile services, at ABI. “Android is presently being used on several cheap tablets that don’t offer experiences anywhere close to the iPad and this dampens the down load momentum for customers.”
ABI Research feels that Android 4.0 ICS could change the atmosphere for applications and “close up the specs space between tablets, like the Amazon Kindle Fire and the iPad.” For smart phones alone, ABI thinks that Android downloads will outrun iOS downloads by a huge margin within the upcoming 4 years. The company forecasts Android application downloads to hit 58 Billion by 2016, as opposed to 27 billion for Apple’s iPhone.
