Mobile phone component producer Foxconn yesterday said it expects to make 90 million models of the 6th edition of Apple’s famous iPhone this season. The Apple is yet to mention the release of iPhone 6. However, experts recommend the smartphone could be released in Autumn this 12 months, which is normally the period when Apple reveals its smartphone offerings.
“Foxconn is expecting to manufacture 90 million units of the iPhone 6 from Apple in 2014. These orders are expected to land across the year,” Foxconn claimed. The rate of growth of worldwide smartphone shipments is likely to land at 28% in 2014 as compared to 40% in 2013, it added. Sales of mobile phones in mature markets are likely to edge up just 4%, down from 5%a last year, it said.
“Foxconn is expected to post an EPS of New Taiwan Dollar 9.29 (USD 0.31) in 2014 and New Taiwan Dollar 10.26 in 2015,” the company said. As per research company IDC, Apple will launch a large-screen edition in 2014, but will not altogether abandon the smaller sized 4-inch display model of previous designs.
