Foxconn, world’s major producer of Smartphones, and among the oldest partners for Apple’s iPhone has stated that it will be produced in 5.5-inch as well as a 4.7-inch iPhone this season.
Interestingly, the media release from the company, quotes sources when stating Foxconn will supply 70 % of all 4.7-inch iPhone shipments for 2015, while also claims that older 4-inch iPhones will continue to be on shelves, with Apple anticipating them to be the key drivers of sales for 2014, along with the new 4.7-inch iPhone. Foxconn’s plants in Zhengzhou, China are likely to start supplying the 4.7-inch design in July, which shows an August sales launch.
The firm will start producing the 5.5-inch one in August, as per the media statement, but there’s no release date pointed out. An earlier report on the ‘iPhablet’ said the 4.7-inch iPhone will come to market first, since the production of the larger screen has been delayed. Earlier, Foxconn had stated that it plans to manufacture 90 million models of iPhone 6 this season. It didn’t indicate the actual break-up of units, but the smaller 4.7-inch design is likely to have the biggest chunk of that number.
