APPLE’S 3G iPad may hit stores earlier than predicted. The iPad 3 could be launched as soon as February — probably on Feb . 23, a day ahead of what would have been founder Steve Jobs’ 57th birthday and sooner than previous reports of March or April.
The latest iPad will boast a so-called “Retina Display” whose screen will have twice the resolution of latest iPads, Citigroup expert Richard Gardner said in a research note Thursday. Some other stories lately have forecasted the next iPad will use super-fast 4G LTE data networks.
Some other speculation, however, have indicated the iPad 3’s release will be postponed to make way for the spring release of a smaller “Mini iPad” – probably in reaction to Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet launched a few weeks ago.
