Apple has reported it has sold over 40,00000 iPhone 4S units just 72 hours after its release on October 14. The doesn’t identify that the number actually includes pre-orders that had started a couple of days back. Although the iPhone 4S did go on sale this previous weekend, the smartphone had been up for pre-order for over 7 days. Apple, however, says the firm sold over 40,00000 mobiles in its first weekend. Granted, the smartphone did go on sale Friday, October 14th.
“iPhone 4S is off to a fantastic start with over 40,00000 sold in its 1st weekend-the most ever for a smartphone and more than double the iPhone 4 release during its initial 3 days,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior V.P of Worldwide Product Marketing.“iPhone 4S is a hit with clients all over the world, and together with iOS 5 and iCloud, is the best iPhone ever,” added Schiller.
Apple also verified that iOS 5 has been downloaded by over 25 million customers all over the world in just 5 days since its launch. Over 20 million consumers have signed up for iCloud too.Those who desire to get an iPhone 4S today can do so in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK. The cell phone will be available in two more dozen countries later this particular month. In the end of year, over 70 countries will carry the mobile phone.
