Zardari given permanent exemption from court appearance in NAB cases

The Accountability Court, Islamabad on today approved a plea of ex- President Asif Ali Zardari is looking for permanent exemption from the court appear in procedures of NAB references against him. Lawyer of the ex- president, Amjad Qureshi, registered the petition, saying that his client couldn’t turn up in the court due to safety issues. The court approved his plea.


During the proceeding, another lawyer of the ex- president‚ Farooq H. Naik‚ prayed before the court for acquittal of Asif Ali Zardari in all 5 corruption references on the grounds that neither any solid proof against him could be found nor any of the eyewitness turned up in case hearings. At which, the court given notice to the NAB to appear at the next hearing on February 3 and submit a formal response over Zardari’s plea for acquittal.

His cases were reopened by the NAB recently when, after his immunity finished and period as head of the state concluded. He appeared in the court on January 9, but doesn’t charge-sheeted.
