US presses Pakistan to allow spy bases near Iran border

The United States is apparently putting pressure on Pakistan to allow Washington to build spy bases in the country’s Balochistan province to gather intelligence on Iran.

As per a report revealed by The Times of India, the US Congress has been talking about a move to recognize the right of Baloch folks to self-determination as a means of putting pressure on Pakistan to give in to the US requirements.

The resolution elicited furious replies from Pakistan’s top politicians including PM Gilani who mentioned it as an attack on Pakistan’s sovereignty. Foreign minister, Hina Rabbani Khar, also mentioned though the resolution was an isolated move by a couple of individuals, it “is contrary to the rules of the United nations Charter and global law.”

The report claimed that 3 officials, 2 from the security agencies and 1 from diplomatic circles, revealed that American diplomats and army leaders have been asking for for permission to allow their agencies to operate close to the Iranian border in Balochistan.
