The Supreme Court has given a notice to the PTI leader over his “critical and derogatory” comments against the judiciary and judges of the supreme court. It said that Imran Khan apparently had tried to incite hatred against the apex court in one of his interactions with the press.

After the contempt of court notice, Imran Khan arrived at Pakistan s top court before a three-member bench led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. During the hearing, Hamid Khan, the lawyer for Imran Khan, told the apex court that his client couldn’t even think of committing contempt of court.

Chief Justice Iftikhar asked Hamid Khan whether he’d prepared a written reply to the contempt of court notice issued against his client. Hamid Khan filed a short reply which said that Imran Khan’s comments were aimed at the Election Commission of Pakistan and not the Supreme Court.
