Ex- PM and senior leader of PPP Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has claimed that despite ex- President Pervez Musharraf faces treason allegations, he will fly abroad sooner or later. Talking to media in Chak Jhumra, Faisalabad on Monday, Yousaf Raza Gilani said the federal government should try the ex- dictator in high treason under Article VI from Oct 12, 1999.
Yousaf Raza Gilani rubbished the impression of threats to democracy under the current conditions, saying long or short marches in the country couldn’t harm the democracy as its roots are powerful enough to resist against any conspiracy. The PPP leader said that in democratic rule quiet demonstrations for achievement of basic rights and to pinpoint the defects of the govt was right of every political party.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that democratic governments should deal with every kind of scenario with wisdom and said that it seems that Lahore Model Town tragedy was result of haste and unnecessary fear of the ruling elite class. He told all the stakeholders to accept the judgment of judicial commission in Model Town tragedy with open heart.
