The Chaudhrys of Gujrat on yesterday called on President Zardari at the President House, in what appears to be the final attempt to fix the dispute between the PML-Q and the PPP on the matter of seat adjustment for the general elections.
The sources stated PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Chaudhry Moonis Elahi had made a decision to meet President Zardari after failure of the joint panel of the two sides to fix the dispute over the seat adjustment issue on a number of constituencies in Punjab. PML-Q leader Senator Kamil Ali Agha had said on Monday that the Tuesday’s meeting in Islamabad between the 2 sides would be the last one on the issue.
The meeting of the Presidency continued till late in the night and there was no formal word from both sides. After the court’s restrictions on President Zardari involved in political activities, the Presidency has quit the practice of issuing official statements at the end of meetings.
