SC suspends SHC’s verdict in Pervez Musharraf ECL case

The Sindh High Court earlier this month ordered removal of Pervez Musharraf’s name from the ECL. A two-member bench comprising Justice Shahnawaz Tariq and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar in its judgment had said the federal govt can file an appeal against the judgment within 15 days; therefore, the decision will be effective after 15 days.

Pervez Musharraf had submitted an appeal in the SHC trying to get removal of travel ban to visit his ailing mother in Dubai and get treatment abroad; however, the federal govt has turned down to allow him, on the grounds that he is facing treason allegations. Pervez Musharraf  was indicted in March on allegations relating to his imposition of emergency rule in late 2007.
