The PTI command has announced holding a protest demonstration and set up a hunger strike camp against the claimed rigging in bye-elections of PP-150 at Faisal Chowk in front of the Punjab Assembly today. PTI Punjab leaders made this announcement on yesterday while addressing a media conference after Returning Officer of PP-150 refused the application of PTI contender Mehar Wajid Azeem for recounting in the said constituency. Mehar Wajid was also present on this occasion.
PTI leaders claimed that the PML-N candidate in PP-150 defeated their candidate by rigging the elections. They claimed that irrelevant people had placed the results of over 40 polling stations to the Returning Officers of PP-150, which was a clear sign of rigging. They pointed out that the PTI bagged 2 seats of Punjab in the by-elections, which reflects no confidence of the people in the PML-N.
The PTI leaders maintained that they would beat the ruling party in the local bodies’ elections. Meanwhile, the Returning Officer PP-150, rejecting the recount application of the PTI contender, Mehar Wajid Azeem said that he should go to the Election Tribunal.
