PTI and PML-N agree on formation of judicial commission: Sources

During the 2nd round of conversations, the PTI and the PML-N negotiating teams could only agree on the formation of a judicial commission. As per sources, the Punjab governor asked the PTI officials to change the sequence of demands. He suggested to keep the probe into election rigging on top of the list, saying that the resignation of the PM should be the last demand.

However, the PTI team turned down the demand. The government board said the judicial commission will be given a time frame of 3 months to carry out clear investigation, saying that the resignation shouldn’t be demanded till the completion of the probe. The PTI reiterated that Nawaz Sharif should step down, adding that the Sharif will influence the investigation. The PTI turned down to give a three-month time frame to Nawaz Sharif.

The govt team comprising Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Ahsan Iqbal, Pervez Rashid and Abdul Qadir Baloch held 2nd meeting along with a PTI negotiation team comprising Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Javed Hashmi, Asad Umar, Arif Alvi and Pervaiz Khattak held the meeting at a local hotel in Islamabad on Friday night.The govt panel will start 3rd round of conversations along with the protesting leaders of PTI today.

Large numbers of followers of Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri are holding protests since August 14.
