Warning the govt to mend its ways, PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif has said his party can launch long march 10 times to save the country from corruption or any other evil.
Addressing a gathering of party workers at the Aiwan-e-Karkunan Pakistan in connection with the Yaum-e-Takbeer on Friday, the PML-N Quaid, lashing out at critics for terming the PML-N a friendly opposition, said it wasn’t a friendly opposition, which took to streets to restore the deposed judiciary in 2009.
Nawaz Sharif said the country had made a historic effort to restore the judiciary and the PML-N would never compromise on values whether the issue was related with the judiciary, Swiss accounts, corruption or any other evil. He said the people of Pakistan had pinned many hopes after their successful struggle and now the day was not far when they would see their hopes fulfilled.
“The PML-N can launch long march 10 times if needed to save the country from corruption or any other menace,” Nawaz Sharif said, urging the government to change the way it was handling things at present. The PML-N Quaid said the looted money be returned and plunderers must be given exemplary punishment. Efforts must be made to bring back the money in Swiss banks, Nawaz Sharif demanded.
The ex-prime minister said the PML-N never compromised over principles, neither at the time of conducting the nuclear tests in 1998 nor over the judgesí issue as well as the NRO. He said when India conducted nuclear tests in 1998 he was on a visit to Kazakhstan. He said soon after he heard the news of blasts by India, he consulted his then information minister Mushahid Hussain and expressed his willingness to respond to India in the same manner. He said after initial consultations, he made a phone call to Pakistan and asked his team to ‘get ready’ for the nuclear tests.
