The leader of the Mohmand Agency chapter of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Omar Khalid Khorasani, on Tuesday turned down the government’s fears that former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf might be attacked by terrorists affiliated with the TTP and al-Qaeda.
In a message for the press from an undisclosed place, Omar Khalid Khorasani said they will not attack Musharraf during the one-month-long ceasefire with the federal government. He said the Taliban stand by their verdict of one-month ceasefire, adding that the Taliban’s name shouldn’t be used for politics.
Meanwhile, the TTP spokesperson, Shahidullah Shahid, in a message to the press, said the Taliban was totally following the one-month ceasefire. He said the federal government and the Taliban committees were in contact. He said the Taliban had not made any demand for opening its office in Pakistan.
