Pipeline explosion: Gas supply to Punjab cities suspended

Gas supply to several cities of Punjab has been stopped after damages to a key pipeline close to the Rahim Yar Khan city. Authorities said 3 explosions happened and fire broke out in a gas pipeline some 50 kms from the Rahim Yar Khan city on Sunday night.


As per report, the fire engulfed Yousuf abad Rang Pura Village within no times. However, the village was quickly got evacuated and no loss of life was reported. Fire brigade teams and rescue workers reached the field and started operation to extinguish the fire.

DPO Suhail Zafar Chatha said efforts were under way to put out the fire and it was early to inform what caused the blaze. He said the repair work would take 24 to 36 hours. As an outcome of the blast, gas supply to the key cities of Punjab like Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Lahore, Faisal Abad stopped. Industrial fuel supply was also coming to a halt in several cities.
