Pervez Musharraf offered 5-year exile agreement: Kasuri

Ex- President Pervez Musharraf’s lawyer Ahmed Raza Kasuri said on yesterday that the government has offered a five-year exile agreement with ex- president; however the claim was rejected by Musharraf’s spokesperson Rashid Qureshi. Earlier, Federal government resolved not to remove ex- president Pervez Musharraf’s name from ECL on yesterday after holding detailed discussions.

As per sources, PM Nawaz Sharif made the decision after thorough discussions with party leaders and Army Chief that lasted over 48 hours. The vast majority of those consulted opposed the removal of Musharraf’s name from ECL. Interior Minister has published a detailed letter to ex- president officially telling him about the government’s decision. Reportedly, Pervez Musharraf is likely to submit an appeal against the decision in Supreme Court.

The ex – president had written to government requesting removal of name from ECL. Just after the government’s decision, Pervez Musharraf’s spokesman released a statement saying such a decision was expected and that the government’s plan has been disclosed through this decision.
