Pervez Musharraf decides to challenge special court in Treason case

Ex- President Pervez Musharraf has opted to challenge the constitution of special court for his trial on allegations of high treason. Sources said the ex- military chief has directed his legal team to prepare an application which is likely to be registered in the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday.

Advocate-on-record Zafar Abbas Naqvi has been appointed to represent Pervez Musharraf in the court, sources said. The federal government has constituted a three-member special court to try the ex- military supremo for treason under Article 6 of the Constitution.

Justice Faisal Arab, Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali have been named for the court.
