Pak army will shoot down any United states drone that intrudes the state’s airspace he Punder a fresh defence strategy in which military have been given greater freedom to reply to incursions by Nato and allied forces in Afghanistan, as per a media report.
“Any object coming into our airspace, including United states drones, will be treated as violent and be shot down,” a senior Pak army official was mentioned as saying by NBC News. The defence strategy was modified after a Nato air attack on 2 army border posts killed 24 Pak soldiers on Nov 26. After the air attack, Pak Army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani given a communique that gave soldiers in the field total freedom to reply to any future strikes without discussing their superiors.
Kayani given multiple directives since the Nov 26 strike, including orders to shoot down United states drones, senior army officials says. Pakistan also banned all Nato supply channels and asked the United states to vacate the Shamsi airfield.
