MQM leader Waseem Akhtar demanded to put Ex- Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza under house-arrest on Monday. MQM leader asserted that Zulfiqar Mirza should be put under house-arrest under Article 16 of Maintenance of Public Order adding that Zulfiqar Mirza desires to disturb peace in Karachi with the support of bandits.
He also asked for President Zardari to settle matters between Zulfiqar Mirza and Abdul Rehman Malik. On the other hand MQM chief Altaf Hussain appealed in a address to his party people to stay peaceful and calm despite Zulfiqar Mirza’s heated claims. Earlier on Sunday after a visit from abroad, Zulfiqar Mirza unveiled into a diatribe against the MQM, just 3 days after it officially rejoined the ruling alliance led by PPP.
He addressed a media conference at the Peoples Stadium in Lyari lashing out against MQM leader Altaf Hussain and calling the PPP-MQM alliance a conspiracy to break up the state. Zulfiqar Mirza charged the MQM for numerous offences in Karachi such as murder, extortion, robbery. He said that he would ‘expose’ the MQM taking ‘ proof ’ he has against the party and its leader to courts in the Uk.
