Lawyers of ex- chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday delivered a defamation notice value 20 billion rupees to PTI chief Imran Khan. Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s lawyers while talking to media outside the Supreme Court said Imran Khan was attempting to disparage and malign the superior judiciary.
They added legal proceedings would be started against the PTI chief if he failed to apologise for the accusations he had leveled earlier against the former chief justice. Earlier, sources said Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s legal team will start proceedings against the PTI leader if the latter fails to show the accusations he has been levelling against the ex- chief justice. The PTI chief Imran Khan had accused the ex- chief justice of poll rigging in the 2013 general election.
Moreover, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s son, Arsalan Iftikhar, had recently alleged that Imran Khan didn’t fulfill the criterion set for being an elected representative of the people, as described in Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
