Government opposes removing Pervez Musharraf’s name from ECL

The Federal Govt has opposed removing Ex- President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s name from the ECL and filed its answer in the Sindh High Court today. As per Federation’s reply, the SHC isn’t authorized to hear the case pertaining to removing Musharraf’s name from the ECL as the orders to limit Pervez Musharraf were issued by the Supreme Court.

Also, the order can’t be challenged in the High Court. In addition, it was  stated in the reply that Pervez Musharraf had hidden the details in his application and following the Article 199, no relief can be given to him. He has been named in four high-profile cases and is presently on bail. He can’t be allowed to leave the country as he is facing severe allegations against him.

The reply more  stated that a case relating to initiate high treason case had also been registered against Musharraf that could result in a death sentence, and it is likely that he wanted to depart the country avoid the sentence. The special court presently indicted him in the case.
