Ex- president Pervez Musharraf will go back home on March 24 after almost 4 years of self-imposed exile in Dubai, his media aide said on Tuesday, in time to participate in general election.
Pervez Musharraf taken power in a 1999 coup and resigned in 2008 when his partners lost a vote and a new govt threatened him with impeachment. He leave the country a year later.
The ex- military general faces the possibility of arrest in Pakistan on allegations that he didn’t provide sufficient security to ex- PM Benazir Bhutto before her murder in 2007. His media aide Khurram Haris informed Reuters Musharraf would go back to Karachi on a public flight on March 24, and wouldn’t be arrested on his arrival.
The ex-president had already stated he planned to come back in March to participate in the election, but hadn’t given an exact date.
