Asking the nation to forget about LB polls, ex- PM Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the PML-N encouraged the youths to become turncoats by tossing the idea of non-Party local government elections. In an interview, Gilani said the local governments played the role of political nurseries at grassroots level and PPPP asked for the election on party basis under a vision.
To a question on the future of ex- President Pervez Musharraf, he said the govt will have to face humiliation on this front as ex- army ruler would slip out of the hands of rulers. He added that the govt spoilt a critical chance by declining to start the trial over October 1999 act and its position got weak in the eyes of people.
Gilani, however, said that his party would still support the peace effort as all the political groups had given a mandate to the govt on this matter. He blamed the govt for ruining valuable time, adding that the PPPP would extend support for eradicating hurdles from the way of the peace process.
