The NEPRA has jacked up power tariff by Rs 1.33 per unit. The improvement in tariff has been authorized by NEPRA under the head of fuel adjustment surcharge (FAS) and this increase will apply to the month of December 2012 after the case in this respect is opted by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
All power distribution firms, except the KESC, had registered application with NEPRA seeking improvement in power tariff on the request that they’d to bear numerous expenses under monthly fuel adjustment surcharge. After conducting the hearing of the request, NEPRA okayed approval to the increase in tariff of Rs 1.33 per unit under per month fuel adjustment surcharge.
The improved tariff will be applicable only for the month of December 2012. A case regarding fuel adjustment rates is already pending hearing with the IHC, therefore, the increased tariff will take effect after the verdict of the court.
