Electricity shortfall reaches up to 4500 MW

The power shortfall in the country has reached up to 4500 megawatt (MW) as load shedding duration has reached to 9 to 14 hours in city and villages. Electricity shortfall has surged up to 4500 megawatt (MW) after reduce in hydel and furnace oil power plants power production.


Due to the shortfall the electricity outage reached 14 hours to 16 hours both in urban and non-urban areas across the country. Sources in the Ministry of Water and Power informed that decline in power was happening due to technical problem in hydel power plants and lack of furnace oil.

Sources told that electricity shortfall may arise in the upcoming days.
